Ishtar at Club Perqe

Ishtar live at Perqé

  This band of Pittsburghers plays Mediterranean and Middle Eastern folk music for the bellydance.

Instrumentation includes clarinet, bass, darbuka (hand drum) and riqq (tambourine),

 

Ishtar has performed extensively in Pittsburgh and has had the honor of playing at the Washington DC Turkish Festival for three consecutive years.

Ishtar will be joined by local bellydancers, Janim and Laila, of West of Cairo.

The dancers are well respected performers of their craft, bringing additional excitement to Ishtar's live musical performance.

 

21 and over - BYOB with no corkage fee. Food will be available to purchase. Doors open at 6pm, Show starts at 7pm - $15 cover per person.

Annual Halloween Parade and Fall Festival

Come Join the Parade and Join the Fun!

at the North Suburban Chamber of Commerce Annual Halloween Parade
Saturday, October 31, 2009

- Parade starts at 11:00 a.m. at the Avalon Elementary School
and travels along California and Lincoln Avenues to Bayne Park in
Bellevue. The event is open to all North Boroughs residents.

- Pre-registration forms are available at Avalon Community
Pharmacy, Fidelity Bank, Fred Dietz Floral & West View Savings.

- On-site registration begins at 10:00 a.m. at the parade site.

- Cash Prizes will be awarded for Best Costumes in the following Categories:
- Preschool through Grade 6, Adults and…


- New this year, a combined Group and/or Float Category with a
$100.00 cash prize for the winner!
Floats can consist of wagons, trucks, or small flatbeds.

Please contact the North Suburban Chamber of Commerce at

Immediately following the parade, Bayne Library sponsors its

Annual Fall Festival in Bayne Park!

  The Fall Festival will feature the return of the “Trackless Train,” a magician, snacks and games.  Local organizations including sports teams, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, Civic organizations, school groups and church groups are invited to set-up tents and tables to participate in this event.  All interested groups are asked to call the Bayne Library at 412-766-7447.  

There is no rain-date scheduled for this event.

Matthews Arts will host its 3rd Annual Art Auction

on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2009 to benefit

Research for the Cure for Breast Cancer.

 

Donations of original artwork

and/or lithograph or giclée prints;

framed or unframed pieces are welcome.

is a giclée print measuring 20" x 14"

and is one of the pieces available for bid at the benefit auction.

The Art Auction is an enjoyable evening of wonderful art, good food, and genuine fun. All proceeds go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Pittsburgh Affiliate.

 

Last year more than $2300 was donated to Research for the Cure for Breast Cancer.

Assumption Theater Guild Presents Rescue in the Night

 

The Assumption Theater Guild is presenting a musical production of the story of

Daniel in the Lion's Den. The live performance, directed by Carol Randolph is presented in McGovern Hall, located in the lower level of Assumption Church.
