VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Supporting the Summer Solstice Spectacular with a gift of time

is essential for the success of this and other community events

which depend largely on community involvement.

Here are some of the ways you can participate starting right now!

 

Become familiar with The Schedule of Events, click the hyperlinks for information and talk about it to everyone you meet!

...be seen wearing a Summer Solstice Spectacular t-shirt and register!

Make a bid on the Silent Auction for 'Flat Matt' online!

Offer to sell the t-shirts, raffle tickets, buttons and flags to raise money to offset the cost of the Trolley, the Street Dance, and oh yes, the essential port-a-potties.

If you are a bit crafty, perhaps you will share your talents and wares at the

Artist/Craft Market

 

Many more opportunities are available for participation!

There are always photo ops!

Making and Posting directional/informational signage is a plus!

 

On Thursday, JUNE 18, 2009

Volunteer as a greeter as the throngs of people seeking a peaceful contemplative

prayer service arrive to participate in Taizé at the Bellevue Central United

Methodist Church and enjoy for yourself the enriching experience.

 

 

On Friday, JUNE 19, 2009

Visit the local restaurants and pack a picnic basket full of food and treats and bring the family to Bayne Park early for a relaxing repast. The kids can play while all browse the 'Friends of the Library' book sale and family and friends gather for the engaging intro and storytelling prior to the

Movie in the Park after Dark

 

After an enjoyable evening, please assist in the clean-up effort by picking up the debris in the surrounding area, putting trash in its place.  Help keep Bayne beautiful!

 

 

On Saturday, JUNE 20, 2009

7:30 am -Rise and shine early, Artist/Craft Market set-up is loaded with fun!

And posting of essential signs and balloons where needed for events on the schedule!

 

10 am-4 pm Information Booth at the Craft Market - Schedule one hour to promote Bellevue, and the Summer Solstice Spectacular event by providing information to visitors, directions to events, selling raffle tickets, 50/50 raffle tickets, t-shirts, buttons, flags in support of the event.

 

10 am-4 pm Volunteer for an hour as the Trolley concierge - ride the trolley on the circuitous route as a Tour Guide and exchange buttons for coin donations.

 

10 am-4 pm Volunteer to record the events and activities of the day with a still camera or video recorder for posting online!

 

Take a walk around the Bayne and the Business District and chat with residents and guests in Bellevue about Bellevue.  Provide information about the events.

 

10:00 am Arrive in Bayne Park to assist with setting up for the Artists' experience.  Stay on and offer helping hands with the various processes.

Nature Printing - Screen Printing - Children Exploring Art

 

10:30 am-1:30 pm Get into costume as a giant puppet and see all the smiling faces throughout Bellevue!  All are welcome to shine like the sun!

 

10:30 am-1:30 pm Painting the smiling faces of the children in the Park is always fun for everyone, or consider volunteering for the Caricature Crew.

 

11:30 am Welcome Bike/Scooter Decorating Contest entries to register.

 

11:30 am  Register entries for the Car Cruise in the Northwest Savings Bank parking lot.  Direct traffic to the cruise entrance from N Balph and Teece Avenues and at N Balph and Citizen Way to direct traffic to the parking lot.

 

Tear-down and Clean-up following the activities in Bayne Park at 2:00pm and the Hawley  Avenue Municipal and Northwest Parking lots after 4 pm is most appreciated.

 

7:00 pm Closing the street for the Street Dance is minimal, beverage sales is key.  Tear-down and Clean-up following the musical performance is most appreciated.

 

 

On Sunday, JUNE 21, 2009

12:30 pm Register the  Pampered Pooch Parade  entries for their owners!

Tear-down and Clean-up following the parade and event is most appreciated.
